RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Tech University Class of 2019 makes its arrival on Saturday.

The Arkansas Tech Office of Residence Life will host freshman move-in day on Saturday, Aug. 22, for the members of the freshman class who will live in university housing.

The first wave of freshmen will begin moving in at 7 a.m. Saturday. Aaron Hogan, associate dean for residence life, expects more than 1,400 Arkansas Tech freshmen to move in Saturday morning.

A volunteer move-in crew consisting of registered student organization members and student-athletes at Arkansas Tech will be there to greet the freshmen. The move-in crew will assist freshmen and their families as they move belongings into the residence halls and begin the process of making their new rooms their homes away from home.

Volunteers also lead an effort to properly process recyclable items from move-in day.

Kevin Solomon, associate dean for campus life at Arkansas Tech, said approximately 375 students representing intercollegiate athletics teams and 22 campus organizations will be part of the move-in crew.

This fall will mark the fourth consecutive year that the Arkansas Tech Office of Campus Life has organized and trained the volunteer move-in crew.
