Springdale leads Arkansas Tech Business Index for first time

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (September 24, 2015)--There is a new leader on the Arkansas Tech Business Index, a project created by the Arkansas Tech University College of Business and sponsored by Arvest Bank.
   
Springdale took the top spot for July 2015 with an index rating of 106.38, an increase of 1.09 points over June 2015. It is the first time in the 19-month history of the ATBI that Springdale has held the No. 1 position.
   
Three municipalities saw similar increases for July 2015. El Dorado (+1.50), Pine Bluff (+1.32) and Russellville (+1.28) also saw their ATBI rating jump by more than one point.

Arkansas Tech Observatory to open for eclipse on Sunday

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.-The Arkansas Tech University Observatory is scheduled to open on Sunday, Sept. 27, to provide members of the university community and beyond with the opportunity to view a total lunar eclipse.

Weather and clouds permitting, the watch party will last from 8-10 p.m. Admission will be free.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A restaurant in Little Rock is allowing the public to travel back in time for a brunch with royalty. 

Nestled on 100 acres of land on Stagecoach Road in Little Rock sits a castle fit for a queen or king and now, open to the public for events. The Castle on Stagecoach has been offering the venue for rentals suitable for all types of events including weddings, corporate parties, bridal showers, holiday dinners and so much more.  

The owners decided it was time to start a monthly event in an effort to allow anyone in the public to come enjoy a champagne brunch, tour of the grounds and enjoy live music.

"The food and experience is wonderful.  Everyone should experience this," said guest, Rance Golden.

Real Proud recognizes 4 Russellville High students

Real Proud recognizes 4 Russellville High students

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The Bank of Little Rock Mortgage recognized four Russellville High School students on Friday, September 11, during the Cyclone Football game.

The students were honored as part of the Real Proud of Real Cyclones program, sponsored by Bank of Little Rock Mortgage. The program recognizes hard-working students who are actively involved in their community and extracurricular activities. The students honored were Keina Harmon, Madison McKinley, Alli Preston and Jake Vickers.

Keina Harmon, daughter of Tina Harmon, was nominated by Alicia Nordurth for her outstanding attitude, attention to learning, and her willingness to help others in class.  Keina is a highly motivated student whose career goal is to become a pediatric oncologist.  She loves helping kids, reading, and spending time with her friends.  Keina is a member of FBLA and is on the RHS Track Team.

Four named Arkansas Teacher of the Year state finalists

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Four outstanding teachers were named 2016 Arkansas Teacher of the Year state finalists at a recognition event today with Gov. Asa Hutchinson and Arkansas Department of Education Commissioner Johnny Key. 

“Selecting just four teachers from an exceptional group of talented educators was a difficult process,” Key said. “The four state finalists chosen, however, have demonstrated leadership, knowledge and the ability to inspire students in the classroom. I congratulate them, as well as their administrators and fellow educators.”

Arkansas Tech will host Open House for prospective students

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - High school students and other individuals interested in learning more about the educational opportunities at Arkansas Tech University are invited to the 19th annual Tech Open House on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center in Russellville.
