Lake Dardanelle events

Tuesdays and Saturdays at 1:30 pm – What’s for Lunch? – See our aquarium exhibit! We have 8,000 gallons of aquariums, filled with many of the fish species found in Lake Dardanelle. Join park staff, as they feed the fish live food. See for yourself, just what do those fish eat for lunch?

Saturdays 1:45 p.m. – Critter Crunch – Lake Dardanelle’s diverse habitats provide homes for many creatures large and small. Join a park interpreter in the kid’s corner of the visitor center as she tells you about some of the smaller creatures. She will also be feeding these creatures; so come discover the small native wonders we have around us.

Conference recognizes those who care for elderly

Conference recognizes those who care for elderly

FERNDALE, Ark. -- When my great-grandmother became increasingly ill a few years back, my parents scrambled to find care for her. If we'd known about the types of resources that the Arkansas Gerontological Society made available, we might have had a smoother transition in her final weeks.

The AGS had their Spring Conference in the last week of March, and I went down to have a look. Vendors like AARP, The Longevity Center, the Arkansas Health Care Association, Amedisys Home Health and others made themselves available to answer questions and consult with the public. I had a nice chat with Tiffany of Alzheimer's Arkansas, and sat in on the AGS awards ceremony.

Folks from all over the state came to network with each other and discuss caregiving for the elderly. More information is available at www.agsociety.org.
