Chiropractors give back to Conway by helping homeless

Chiropractors give back to Conway by helping homeless

CONWAY, Ark. - Doctors Brian and Merissa Beard, husband and wife, have been in Conway for a little over a year, and for the last three months they have been using their skills as Chiropractors to help the homeless.

Merissa says, "We were looking for somewhere to give back to our community. Conway has been awesome giving to us.”

The Beards had worked performing adjustments on Sundays at a homeless church while attending Parker University in Dallas. It was a logical step for the Beards to start helping the homeless through Bethlehem House, Conway’s homeless shelter.

“Chiropractic adjustments can help in tremendous ways. Anything from treating neck pain, back pain and headaches to helping people sleep better, to function better and for overall health,” Brian added.

The Beards perform chiropractic adjustments at the Bethlehem House once a week either on Monday evenings or Thursday afternoons.

Park plans for possible flooding at Tyler Bend Campground

Park plans for possible flooding at Tyler Bend Campground

HARRISON, Ark. (Buffalo National River) -  Although most of the immediate damage and anticipated threats appear to be concentrated in the Newton County portion of Buffalo National River, the park is taking steps in view of a high probability of flooding at Tyler Bend Campground off Highway 65 in Searcy County.  Park Maintenance has removed electrical assets in the flood plain at Tyler Bend.

Until the threat passes, the pavilion restroom and group site restrooms will be closed.  Also closed are the group sites and walk-in campsites.  The “peanut loop” on higher ground will remain open with functioning restrooms and water.  If river levels rise above the 33 foot level at the Highway 65 bridge further closures may be necessary. These closures will include the remaining restrooms and campsites in the TB campground.

For current information and status of closures please call the Tyler Bend Visitor Center at 870/439-2502.

On Saturday, June 20, the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre will enact an outdoor performance of As You Like It at the Institute. The performance, which will be free and open to the public, will include the full plot of As You Like It abridged into a family-friendly version. While outdoor chairs will be set up at the Institute for the upcoming event, onlookers will also be able to utilize blanket space on the lawn depending on their preferences. The River Rock Grill will provide food for purchase.
