Pope Co. sheriff warns of PCH scam | News
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Pope County Sheriff's Office has received multiple reports of a scam involving the Publishers Clearing House.
Several citizens in Pope County have been contacted by a person claiming to be with the Publishers Clearing House who advises that the citizen has won a large sum of money and a new car. They are told that in order to collect their prize they must send a certain amount of money to a specified address.
Once the money is sent, they are told to shred any and all documents that they have received concerning their award.
Sheriff Aaron DuVall is requesting that anyone in Pope County that receives a call of this nature call the Pope County Sheriff's Office at 479-968-2558. The Sheriff's Office is currently investigating these reports, and information is being gathered to send to the Attorney General's Office.
Sheriff DuVall also advises citizens to be extremely cautious when giving out personal information over the phone or sending money to anyone they do not know.
