Rescue dogs to be trained in Russellville

The 14th Annual Search Dog Training Weekend will be held May 16-19, 2013 in Russellville, AR.  The weekend will be based at Old Post Road Park.  Approximately 50 participants from various Search & Rescue  teams from around the country have registered for the training weekend.  The weekend will consist of intense field work and classroom work each day.  The majority of the handlers attending the weekend are from various search and rescue organizations and volunteer their time to their communities to assist with searches for missing individuals.  The weekend is hosted by Arkansas Alliance of Bloodhound Search Specialists (AABSS), Pope County K-9 Unit, and Piney Creek Kennel.

Teams will be training in and around the Russellville area throughout the weekend.  Please feel free to stop and visit with the handlers and their K-9's -- however please ask prior to approaching any of K-9's as they may be in the middle of working a training exercise when you see them.  The handlers attending will be happy to visit with anyone interested in more information about search dogs after they have completed their training scenario.
