'The Nut Job' playing at Lake Dardanelle State Park

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce said Sunset Cinema will feature The Nut Job Thursday night.

The movie will play at  Lake Dardanelle State Park by the visitor center. The cost is $1 for over the age of 12, and anyone younger gets in for free.

FLW College Fishing Southern Conference event set for Lake Dardanelle

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (FLWCF) – FLW College Fishing is headed to Lake Dardanelle July 26 for the final regular-season stop in the Southern Conference. Up to 50 college teams will be competing for a top award of $2,000 and a berth in the Southern Conference Invitational tournament.

“We’ve had quite a bit of rain lately so there will definitely be a shallow and a deep bite,” said 3M ScotchBlue Tape pro Ray Scheide of Dover, Ark., a six-time Forrest Wood Cup qualifier. “The lake is fishing as good or better than it ever has and it is really in good shape.”

Scheide said that college anglers would be able to find fish shallow around milfoil as well as around the lake’s offshore ledges.

Little Rock, AR – The registration deadline for Camp iRock has been extended to July 11. The Arkansas Minority Health Commission (AMHC) will host the fourth annual all-girl fitness and nutrition camp, Sunday, August 10 through Saturday, August 16. The experience will take place at Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center, 1720 Ferncliff Road in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Designed exclusively for girls in sixth, seventh and eighth grades, Camp iRock offers fun educational activities, workshops and exercises aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles, physical activity and self-confidence. Lake Cruise –Explore the wonders of Lake Dardanelle and the Arkansas River aboard the state park tour boat.  Enjoy abundant wildlife, amazing history, and astounding views of the river valley throughout this 1 hour cruise.  There is no fee for the tour, but space is limited.  You must register for the tour. LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Tonight's My Town Hero is a legendary Little Rock basketball coach. He's accomplished some remarkable things on the court over the years, but it's what the Arkansas Sports Hall of Famer is doing off the court that makes him so worthy of being called a Town Hero.

This man needs no introduction. Just take a look at the plaques along his wall, and you'll know right away you're in the presence of greatness. Charles Ripley, Head Basketball Coach and Athletic Director at Arkansas Baptist College, wears many hats, but the most significant pertains to meeting the needs of his young athletes.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – The 22nd anniversary of National Trails Day, America's largest trail celebration, is slated for June 7. Events throughout the U.S. will join this nationwide observation of America's wealth of trail types and experiences while encouraging the public to enjoy a trail. According to State Trails Coordinator Mike Sprague, "The kick off to Arkansas's celebrations will begin a week earlier on Saturday, May 31, with trail events of all kinds in Little Rock and North Little Rock. Aquatic Conservation Experience Camp at Lake Dardanelle State Park

LAKE DARDANELLE, Ark, (ACE) - A.C.E. Camp explores ways to enjoy and conserve our aquatic environments in and around Lake Dardanelle. This camp spans two days, camp will be held 5-9 pm on Friday June 20th and 9am-2pm on Saturday, June 21st.  This camp will teach kids ages 10-13 about many of the creatures that call the area home. As well as, teaching them ways to get out and enjoy our water resources. Camp will include fishing, kayaking, and many other fun activities that will teach them about the fish, snakes, and bugs that can be found in the lake. Space is limited so get the $35 registration fee in no later than June 6, 2014.
