Lake Dardanelle State Park to Host Boater Education Course

Lake Dardanelle State Park, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and the Auxiliary Coast Guard are partnering to provide a Boating Education Course open to the public.

Plan to attend the Boating Education Course offered March 12 & 13, 2012 at the Lake Dardanelle State Park Visitor Center Classroom from 6-9 p.m. You must attend both nights to complete the course. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s “Mandatory Boating Education Regulation states that: “Anyone born after 1985 must take and pass an approved Arkansas Game and Fish Boating Education Course and carry proof that he or she has satisfactorily completed the course in order to operate a motorboat in Arkansas.”

The minimum 6 hour course includes; boat classification, registration, and life saving equipment, navigation aids, rules of the road, maintenance, courtesy, and much more. The course is free of charge and is open to a limited number. Pre-registration is required. Please call 479-967-5516.

Adult Summer Softball League begins to organize for men, women's teams

The Russellville Recreation and Parks Department will hold an organizational meeting for Adult Summer Softball on March 5, 2012.

The meeting will be at 6:30 pm in the Hughes Community Center.  Anyone interested in entering a team in the summer softball league will need to have a representative present at this meeting.  Registration will begin on Monday, March 12 and end on Friday, March 23 at 5:00 pm.

If you are unable to attend, the necessary forms are available in the Russellville Recreation and Parks Department Office or may be downloaded from our website at www.eteamz.com/rsvlparksdepartment.  For information, contact the Hughes Center at 968-1272.

Tech football announces signing of 40 letters of intent

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech University Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Steve Mullins announced the signing of 40 student-athletes to National Football Letters of Intent on Wednesday.

The group of 40 signees includes players from eight different states, including 18 high school players from the state of Arkansas. Among the state of Arkansas signees are three players from Class 7A State semifinalist North Little Rock and Dardanelle High School All-State kicker/punter Randy Velazquez.

Trustees vote to enhance baseball facility at Arkansas Tech

 

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (December 15, 2011)--Tech Field, home of Arkansas Tech University baseball since 1978, will soon have a new look.

The Arkansas Tech Board of Trustees approved a plan to build new spectator seating, a new press box and new restroom facilities at Tech Field during its regular monthly meeting on Thursday.

Construction is scheduled to begin at the conclusion of the upcoming baseball season and be completed in time for the 2013 season.

Cost for the project will be $1.085 million. The project will be funded through the sale of revenue bonds.

Arkansas Tech first fielded an intercollegiate baseball team in 1912, and the university has participated in intercollegiate baseball every year since 1953. The Wonder Boys have accumulated 1,131 all-time wins and eight conference championships during the 69-season history of the program.
