SAU baseball sweeps GAC player of the week awards

SAU baseball sweeps GAC player of the week awards

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (SAU) - After a pivotal series win against nationally-ranked Harding this past weekend, the Southern Arkansas baseball team has swept the weekly Great American Conference (GAC) awards as David Harris was named the GAC Hitter of the Week and Philip Menou was tabbed as the GAC Pitcher of the Week as it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Harris earns hitter of the week honors after he hit .500 (6-of-12) with five RBIs and two game-winning homeruns against Harding.

Harris' first homerun over the weekend was a no-doubt walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Muleriders a thrilling 13-11 win in the opener. Harris' second bomb of the weekend came in the first inning of the series finale, and that solo homer proved to be the game-winner as the Muleriders went on to win 2-0.
