140 Wonder Boys report for football practice

Arkansas Tech University welcomed 140 candidates for its 2012 football team to the first full day of fall camp on Wednesday, Aug. 8.
 
Head coach Steve Mullins has planned a preseason schedule that runs through Tuesday, Aug. 21, and includes a pair of full-scale scrimmages.
 
This will be Mullins’ 16th season as Arkansas Tech head football coach. He is the longest-tenured college head football coach in Arkansas and he has led the Wonder Boys to more victories (91) than any other head football coach in school history.
 
“We are pleased with our numbers and the enthusiasm that is present among our student-athletes,” said Mullins. “Our football team grew and improved during spring practice. We must continue that development both as individuals and as a team during preseason camp.

NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Competition Coming to Russellville
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark---The Russellville Recreation and Parks Department will host a local competition for NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick on Saturday, September 8 at Vick Field, 915 East Parkway at 9 a.m.  The competition is open to boys and girls, ages 6-15.  The competition is free. Registration forms are available at the Hughes Center or you may register at the event.  For more information contact the Hughes Center at 968-1272.

Russellville Recreation and Parks Department Adult Softball Registration Deadline

The Russellville Recreation and Parks Department’s deadline for registering teams for the Adult Fall Softball League is July 27 at 5:00 pm.  Teams that register must pay the entry fee and submit the entry form, and a team roster.  All forms are available in the Russellville Recreation and Parks Department Office or online at www.russellvillearkansas.org   Call 968-1272 for more information.

Multimedia Summer Arts Camp

(RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.) -- The River Valley Arts Center will host three popular Multi-Media Summer Art Camps have been scheduled with Winston Taylor and Tonya Rhodes as instructors. Camps are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The fee of $75 for Arts Center members and $85 for non-members includes all supplies, a camp tee shirt, water bottle and daily snack. In the pottery segments each camper will create a small pot to take home. Camp begins July 23-27.

9p.m. –Creatures of the Night– Lake Dardanelle is home to many creatures. Discover some of Lake Dardanelle State Park’s nocturnal residents. Join a park interpreter on the Dardanelle side of the park in the grassy area near the playground and learn what animals come out when we go to sleep. We will be outside so dress for the weather.

Join a park interpreter on the Dardanelle side of the park in the grassy area near the playground to discover solutions in preventing water pollution.
