Aquatic Adventures Day Camp

Do you enjoy kayaking, fishing, seining, and other fun outdoor activities? Come out to Lake Dardanelle State Park to experience some fun aquatic adventures! Explore many of the unique aquatic creatures that call Lake Dardanelle State Park home.

 Lake Dardanelle State Park will be holding a three day camp from Wednesday, July 11 – Friday, July 13 for kids ages 8-12.  The camp includes activities, crafts, programs, and much more.  The campers will meet at the visitor center at 9am each day and will be ready to be picked up there at 4pm.  Lunch, snacks, and all materials will be included in the $65 registration fee.

Tuesdays and Saturdays at 1:30 pm – What’s for Lunch? –We have 8,000 gallons of aquariums, filled with many of the fish species found in Lake Dardanelle. Join park staff, as they feed the fish live food. See for yourself, what’s for lunch?

 

Saturdays at 1:45p.m. – Critter Crunch – Lake Dardanelle’s diverse habitats provide homes for many creatures large and small. Join a park interpreter in the kid’s corner of the visitor center as she tells you about some of the smaller creatures. She will also be feeding these creatures; so come discover the small native wonders we have around us.

Adult Fall Softball League Organizational Meeting (Men, Women, and Coed)

The Russellville Recreation and Parks Department will hold an organizational meeting for Adult Fall Softball on July 9, 2012.  The meeting will be at 6:30 pm in the Hughes Community Center.  Anyone interested in entering a team in the fall softball league should have a representative present at this meeting.  Registration will begin on Monday, July 16 and end on Friday, July 27 at 5:00 pm.  If you are unable to attend, the necessary forms are available in the Russellville Recreation and Parks Department Office or online at www.russellvillearkansas.org   For information, contact the Hughes Center at 968-1272.

Do you enjoy kayaking, fishing, hiking, and other fun outdoor activities? Come out to Lake Dardanelle State Park to experience some fun outdoor adventures! Explore many of the unique night time creatures that call Lake Dardanelle State Park home.

This year we are doing a different time on the June Day Camp. The "Nature at Night" Day Camp times are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13 and Thursday, June 14. On Friday, June 15 the time for camp is 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. so the campers can explore Nature at Night. Kid ages 8-12 are invited to join us for the "Nature at Night" camp. The camp includes activities, crafts, programs, and much more. The campers will meet at the visitor center for each day of the camp. Lunch, snacks, and all materials will be included in the $65 registeration fee.

Kayak Campout at Lake Dardanelle State Park

Youth ages 13-15 are invited to take part in 2 fun-filled days and one night of kayaking fun on Lake Dardanelle.  The park will host a Kayak Campout June 22-23, 2012. 

This overnight camp will get kids out and let them enjoy nature and the beauty of the lake via kayak. We will meet at the visitor center Friday morning at 10 a.m. We will kayak out, set up camp, and discover some of the great things nature has to offer. Then we will break camp and kayak back in and will return to the visitor center Saturday afternoon by 1p.m. Registration for the camp will include meals, equipment, and instruction the fee is $75.

Our camps have limited space, so get your registration and fee in early. The latest you can register is June 15, 2012 (provided there is still space available).  You may pick up a registration form at the Lake Dardanelle State Park Visitor Center, or have it e-mailed or faxed by calling the park at 479-967-5516.

M.J. Hickey Pool Opening

M.J. Hickey Pool Opening

M.J. Hickey Pool will be opening for the season on Saturday, May 26, 2012.  Daily admission for adults (18 or older) - $4, children (7 - 17) - $3.00, children (6 and under) - $2.  Individual season passes priced at $75 are available at the Hughes Center at 1000 East Parkway.  Daily pool hours are 12:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Children's Fishing Derby at Pleasant View Park

The Russellville Recreation and Parks Department will present the annual Children's Fishing Derby at Pleasant View Park on June 9, 2012 beginning at 8:00 am with the weigh-in at 10:00am.  This free event is for children ages 4 to 12.  Prizes will be given in three age divisions for the heaviest catfish and the heaviest stringer of catfish.  A special prize is given for biggest fish caught during the derby.  Pre-register at the Hughes Center to insure a goodie bag for the participant.  For more information, contact the Recreation and Parks Department at 968-1272.
